The Herrenberg Music School was founded in 1968. Thus it can look back on a history of more than thirty years. Today, 1150 pupils are taught by 40 teachers on all orchestra instruments: piano, keyboard, recorder, accordion, singing and popular music.
There is already a wide range of offers for children: the music garden for the two-year-olds together with their parents, the primary musical education and the creative dancing from four years and up, and the instrument merry-go-round from six years and up.
The efforts of the music school focus on the co-operation with instruments. Small and large ensembles, more playful groups and youth orchestras, combo and Big Band not only promote the musical development ,but also the capacity for teamwork and social competence. The Herrenberg Music School co-operates closely with the local music clubs, for which they educate the young musicians. Many projects show the successful co-operation with the schools and kindergartens of Herrenberg.
The lessons of the music school are also open for adults. Several ensembles as well as the Herrenberg Orchestra offer the possibility of playing music together.
Rental Instruments are available for the beginners.
The music school takes the responsibility for the organisation and performance of the city concerts and for the series "Concerts in studio". Pupils of the music school participated no less than eighty times in intern performances, in events at schools and kindergartens, in the senior club, in a nursery home for handicapped persons or in other festivities. Concert tours and leisure time activities make the offer for the pupils of the music school complete. With its offer "Courses and Projects", the music school together with the local adult education programme responds flexibly and target-group-oriented to specific demands. Therefore the music school contributes considerably to the cultural life of the town of Herrenberg and its surroundings.
