If we move our community, we can move the world. That's what we want.
What's to do.. (lat.: Agenda) to retain and improve the quality of life for all people in the 21st century needs a global thinking all over the world. Action by local authorities, where we live, work, produce and consume is necessary, to reach improvement. It was in 1992 that 178 states met in Rio de Janeiro for the first international Earth Summit convened to address urgent problems of environmental protection an socio- economic development. The action programme 'Agenda 21' was adopted. The comprehensive programme is based on the principle of a global partnership to conserve, protect and restore the health an integrity of the Earth's ecosystem. The according measure of the Agenda 21 states clear that industry- and third-world countries work together against the increasing destruction of the natural sources and the growing rift between North and South, rich and poor.
In chapter 28 of the 'Agenda 21' all communities of the world are encouraged to implement and monitor their own strategies and programmes locally. The 'Lokale Agenda 21 Herrenberg' which was officially recognized by the district council in 1999, takes this demand as a goal. The participation and cooperation of local authorities will be a determining factor in fulfilling its objectives. This is the way to arrange the future for the next generation.
