Herrenberg has had a twinning agreement with

the town of Tarare (Rhone) since 1958. Tarare is located on the edge of the Beaujolais region, 50 km west of Lyons and has a population of 10.500.

As a rule there are two major partnership events every year, one in Herrenberg and one in Tarare. These events are usually organised by cultural or sporting associations. There is also a regular school exchange programme between the Herrenberg grammar school and secondary schools and their equivalents in Tarare. Working visits and holiday visits for the young people of both towns, cultural exhibitions and meetings between experts are also an integral part of the programme.
